This was one of E-TEN’s later works, finished on March 5th of 2024. The piece was created over a two month period. This is how Helena looks at me (Malachi) sometimes. She has taught me how to play a more active role in my friends lives and as a leader in my own life. Making art with her is such a reflective process because it tells us many truths about ourselves. This portrait exudes the awkwardness of human interaction — how close can they be, physically and emotionally, before it feels uncomfortable, endearing, or inescapable?

(Blue Lady was created under the pseudonym EᐧTEN, in collaboration with Helena Nguyen)

Who am I?

Malachi Roth-Cohen (b. 2004) is an artist born and raised in Southeastern PA and Attending College in Boston, MA. His work is imbued with surrealist aspects that consider the physical experience of being in a specific emotional state. Central to his practice is an affection for the experiences of the world. Often in the work, there is a reflection of the times we are in.
